The Fort Wayne Daisies made their AAGPBL debut in 1945 (replacing the departed Minneapolis Millerettes) and had a strong first season, going 62-47 and finishing 4 and a half games behind first-place Rockford. After several years near the bottom of the standings, the team finished first in the league's final three seasons, '52 through '54, thanks to the sister combo of Betty Foss and Joanne Weaver. Between Foss and Weaver, Fort Wayne hitters captured the final five batting championships. With Helen Callaghan winning in 1945, they had the most batting titles in league history. While the team made the playoffs in the league's last seven seasons, they struggled in the post-season and never won a title. In '52 and '53, they were knocked out in the first round after posting the best regular-season record.
