[edit] Biographical Information

Flea Clifton was pressed into service in the 1935 World Series when Detroit Tigers slugging 1B Hank Greenberg broke his wrist in Game Two. 3B Marv Owen moved to first base and Clifton stepped in at third base. He had only played in 43 games during the regular season, with a .255 batting average, and went 0 for 16 during the remainder of the Series, but the Tigers still managed to beat the Chicago Cubs by 4 games to 2.
