Shortstop Flavio Alfaro was a member of the United States National Baseball Team at the 1984 Olympics. He was also selected by the Atlanta Braves in the fourth round of the 1984 amateur draft. Alfaro only played one season as a pro, hitting .193/.337/.272 for the Durham Bulls. He stole 29 bases and walked 82 times. Before the 1986 season, he was traded (along with Rick Cerone) to the Milwaukee Brewers for Ted Simmons but never played a game in the Milwaukee system.
