[edit] Biographical Information

Shortstop Everett Scott played in 1307 consecutive games, the record until Lou Gehrig came along. He began the streak on June 20, 1916, while playing for the Boston Red Sox. Following the 1921 season, he was traded to the New York Yankees. On May 6, 1925, he was benched in favor of Pee Wee Wanninger. Ironically, less than a month later, teammate Gehrig began his own streak when he entered a game as a pinch hitter for Wanninger. Scott's streak is still the third longest streak behind Cal Ripken and Gehrig.

Scott was inducted into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.
