Estevão Sato played for the Brazilian national team for a decade. He also spent six years in Japan's industrial leagues with Mitsubishi Motors.
In the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, the teenager was 1 for 9, splitting second base duties with Ronaldo Ono. He was back with Brazil for the 2003 Pan American Games and 2003 Baseball World Cup. In the 2003 Cup, he hit .342/.375/.421 but struck out in 12 of 38 AB and fielded .826 at third base. He was 0 for 5 with 4 strikeouts in Brazil's near-upset of Cuba in the quarterfinals. He tied Frederich Cepeda and Luis Iglesias for 5th with 13 hits. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, Sato moved to first base and hit .233/.303/.267.
