The Leones del Escogido are a team in the Dominican League. Through 2012, they had won 14 national championships and four Caribbean Series, most recently the 2012 Caribbean Series. Founded in 1921, the club is based out of Santo Domingo. Felipe Alou, Jesus Alou, Matty Alou, Juan Marichal, David Ortiz, Sammy Sosa, and Alex Rodriguez are among the most famous players to appear on the Lions' roster over the years. Ken Oberkfell has been their manager during their most recent run of success.
Former major leaguer Moises Alou currently (since 2010) works as general manager for the Leones team, winning two championships in his first three years.(2009-2010 and 2011-2012).
