The Erie Yankees were part of an unusual experiment in the Canadian League in 1914. The club was the sole American team in the 8-team league; the distance from all the other cities led to heavy financial tolls which negatively affected the circuit. In 1915 the club was the victim of contraction and their odd circumstances. The Erie, PA-based club was successful on the field, going 64-57 under managers Frank Gygli and Heinie Smith.
