Between 1963 and 1980, the only professional baseball club in Erie, PA was the Erie Tigers, who played one year (1967) in the New York-Pennsylvania League. The Detroit Tigers farm team finished dead last in the NY-Penn at 26-51-1 and drew the fewest fans (only 9,988). Managed by Eddie Lyons, Erie was outscored 543-342 and was last in the league in runs allowed (96 worse than anyone else) and runs scored. The team had no All-Stars or future big-league regulars. Phil Meeler (5-9, 3.63) was 8th in the league in ERA and led in losses. OF Randall Hooper (.258/~.375/.431) tied for second in the NY-Penn with 11 homers, but also struck out 63 times in 209 AB.
