Erick Rodríguez began his professional career with the 1999 AZL Mexico club, hitting .283/.331/.283 in 39 games. He next surfaced in 2001 with the Oaxaca Warriors, batting .240 with 7 homers and 41 RBI. He hit .325 in limited action in 2002 and .257 in a bit role in 2003. In 2004, he batted .306 for Oaxaca. During 2005, the Monterrey native's batting line was .266/.303/.402. He followed that with a .289/.340/.378 campaign in 2006. In 2007, Erick hit .315/.363/.391 for Oaxaca. He slipped a bit in 2008 by batting .302/.347/.340, then hit .328/.398/.417 in 2009.
