In 2001, Cyr was convicted of sexually assaulting a 15 year old girl. He spent 30 days in prison. He pitched for Canada in the qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics, going 0-1 with a 8.18 ERA, taking the defeat in a game against Cuba that could have gotten Canada closer to the Olympics.
