Shortstop Emmanuel Burriss was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 2006 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that summer with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, hitting .307 with 35 stolen bases and 50 runs scored in 65 games. He split the next year between the Augusta GreenJackets, for whom he hit .321 with 51 steals in 89 games, and the San Jose Giants, where he hit just .165 but stole 17 bases in 36 contests. After beginning 2008 with the Fresno Grizzlies, he was called up by the Giants and made his big league debut on April 20th.
