Emil Batch played four seasons in the major leagues, all with the Brooklyn Superbas during the dead-ball era.
He was a third baseman during the first two years and thereafter an outfielder.
In 1904, he came up for 28 games hitting .255 on a team which hit .232. Mike McCormick, the regular third baseman that year, hit .184, and the next year Batch had the job at third. In 1905, Batch hit .252 with 11 triples and 5 home runs. The 5 home runs were 7th in the league in home runs. Teammate Harry Lumley hit 7 home runs. The team as a whole hit .246. However, he made 57 errors in the field.
The next year Batch appeared in only 59 games, of which only 2 were at third base. He hit .256 on a team that hit .236. In 1907, Batch's last year, he played outfield again and hit .247 on a team that hit .232. However, he had no power, with a slugging average of .289 that was below the team's .298.
Became a telephone operator after his baseball carrer.
