Em Lindbeck was a star at the University of Illinois in both football and baseball. A 1955 football program says that he had been fourth in the nation the previous year in pass completion average, and had hit .370 as a baseball player. He was later named Illinois Athlete of the Year in 1956. Illini program.
He is mentioned in the book "Ray Eliot: The Spirit and Legend of Mr. Illini".
Lindbeck was drafted by the Rams in 1956.
One source identified him as a former mayor of Kewanee.
