Elton Wilson played a number of years in the Hoofdklasse.
Until 1980, Wilson played in Aruba, then he did not play from 1981-1984. From 1985-1988, he was in the Dutch minors. He came up with ADO in 1989 and hit .265 with 28 runs in 35 games. He played for the Dutch national team in the 1989 World Port Tournament and 1989 European Championship. Wilson hit .281 and slugged .562 in 1990, with 9 home runs and 32 runs in 28 games. He moved to the Haarlem Nicols club in 1991 and fell to .219 with a .303 slugging. With Sparta in 1992, he hit .305 and slugged .397. He was back in the minors from 1993-1995.
In 1996, Elton batted .281 and slugged .492 for Sparta. He had a career season in 1997 with the Hoofddorp Pioniers, hitting .410 with a .673 slugging percentage, 11 home runs, 47 runs and 43 RBI. He was then 7 for 16 with five runs and four RBI in four games as they won the 1997 Holland Series.
At age 36, Wilson hit .286 in 1998. In 1999, he batted .314 and slugged .629 for the Pioniers with 11 doubles, 7 triples, 10 home runs and 42 RBI in 44 games. He tied the league record for triples, held by Marcel Joost, Robert Eenhoorn and Johnny Balentina.
