On August 27, 1910, Koestner got the only hit in a one-hitter pitched by Sea Lion Hall.
He pitched for the league champion PCL Portland Beavers in 1911.
Koestner is also remembered as one of the pitchers in the first game played in St. Petersburg, FL, a spring training game between the St. Louis Browns and Chicago Cubs in 1914. Zip Zabel also pitched.
