In 1989, Elias Sosa played for the St. Petersburg Pelicans of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He went 3-4 with a 2.90 ERA for the club. In 1990, Sosa again played for the St. Petersburg Pelicans. He pitched in 9 games and was 1-1 with one save and a 1.72 ERA when the league folded.
