The brother of Adrian Gonzalez, infielder Edgar Gonzalez was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 30th round of the 2000 amateur draft. Edgar and his brother were among the Mexican-Americans playing for Mexico in the 2009 World Baseball Classic; he was 3 for 11 with two steals, two runs and 3 RBI while splitting second base duties with Freddy Sandoval. He struggled defensively, making at least two run-scoring errors in 3 games.
