Eddie Yount played a couple seasons in the major leagues. He came out of Wake Forest University, where he had been in 1936 along with some other future major leaguers including Morrie Aderholt.
He played for the Williamsport Grays in 1937.
He is one of four major leaguers with the last name "Yount".
Buz Phillips is the only other major leaguer born in Newton, NC.
