Left fielder Ed Kennedy was a weak hitter but apparently earned his keep over four major league seasons in the American Association by having a better-than-average fielding percentage.
Most of his teams played over .500, with the 1884 Metropolitans winning the pennant.
He is not to be confused with another Ed Kennedy, his contemporary, who played in 1884 in the Union Association.
