Ed Keegan made his major league debut shortly after he turned 20 in 1959. He was not very effective as a pitcher in the majors in 1959, but by 1962 his ERA had dropped to a good 2.25 (in eight innings).
Keegan had previously pitched well in two seasons with Williamsport, going 13-9 in 1958 and 10-7 in 1959.
He and Bob Keegan, his near contemporary, are the only two major leaguers (through 2008) with the last name Keegan.
