[edit] Biographical Information
Ed Armbrister, reserve outfielder from the Bahamas who spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Reds, is best remembered for a controversial bunt play in Game 3 of the 1975 World Series. Armbrister was called on to sacrifice in the 10th inning after the Boston Red Sox had rallied to tie the game. His bunt bounced high in front of the plate, and Ed became entangled with catcher Carlton Fisk. Fisk threw wildly into center field, and the eventual winning run would later score. Despite Boston's vehement protests, interference was not called.
