Led by Dave Callahan (.365 avg, 92 runs scored) and hurler Frank Nicholson, the Commissioners won the 1910 pennant in a walk. The dagger was wielded by Nicholson, who held the 2nd-place Winona Pirates hitless on September 6.
The most-famous alumnus of the Commissioners was an 18-year-old outfielder from Clear Lake, WI named Burleigh Grimes. Grimes moved to the mound on May 21 in a home game, but his stay in Eau Claire was short-lived, as the team withdrew from the league on July 1 for financial reasons.
