Dwight Smith

Dwight Smith, Jr. is the son of Dwight Smith. The Toronto Blue Jays took him with the 53rd pick of the 2011 amateur draft; the first-round pick was compensation for the loss of Kevin Gregg to free agency. He was Toronto's fourth pick, following Tyler Beede, Jacob Anderson and Joe Musgrove. Smith's primary skill was expected to be his contact hitting. He signed with the Jays on August 14th, giving up on a commitment to attend Georgia Tech in order to begin his professional career.
