[edit] Biographical Information
Drew Sutton is a utility player who made his major league debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2009.
Sutton was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 15th round of the 2004 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Pat Murphy and made his pro debut that summer with the Tri-City ValleyCats.
After spending 2011 in the Boston Red Sox organization, and putting up a .315 average in 31 games for the big league squad, he made a dizzying number of moves over a very short span of time. He signed with the Atlanta Braves prior to the 2012 season, but failed to make the team and was sent down to the AAA Gwinnett Braves. There he hit .270 in 137 at-bats. On May 20th, the Pittsburgh Pirates purchased his contract from the Braves. But he did not even have time to unpack his suitcases, as the very next day, he was sent to the Tampa Bay Rays in return for a player to be named later and on May 22nd was in the starting line-up at second base going 2 for 4 with a double against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Rays were his 6th organization since the start of the 2010 season, when he played a couple of games for the Reds before being claimed on waivers by the Cleveland Indians in August.
