 Biographical Information
Doug Harvey was a star defenseman in the National Hockey League from 1947-1968. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973.
Harvey played for 2 full years for the Ottawa Nationals in the Border League plus a few games in two other years. He made his debut in 1947 hitting .400 in only 10 games. In 1948 he hit .340, 4 HR, 73 RBI with 107 runs and 24 SB. In 1949 he hit .351, 14 HR, 109 RBI with 121 runs and 30 SB. He led the league in R, RBI, and AVG. After 10 more games in 1950, Harvey quit baseball. His cumulative line for 238 minor league games reads .344, 18 HR, 187 RBI with 243 runs and 58 SB.
He should not be confused with umpire Doug Harvey.
