Donzell McDonald, Sr. is the father of Donzell McDonald, Darnell McDonald and Darin McDonald. He was picked in the 8th round of the 1969 amateur draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and spent his only season, 1970, with the GCL Tourists. He batted .239/.308/.376 with 5 triples in 31 games, only 2 triples shy of the Gulf Coast League lead. He fielded .897 in the outfield.
