Donnie Murphy was acquired by the Oakland Athletics after the 2006 season from the Kansas City Royals, where he had played in the majors in 2004-05.
Murphy played for Wichita in 2006, although he was on the disabled list twice. He had 14 home runs with a .249 average in 94 games.
