Right-handed pitcher Don Spohn played three seasons in the Kansas City Athletics farm system. He spent 1956 with the Grand Island A's of the Nebraska State League and Seminole Oilers of the Sooner State League, 1957 with the Mattoon Athletics of the Midwest League, and 1959 with the Olean A's of the New York-Pennsylvania League. His first baseman at Olean was 17-year old Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, who went on to a celebrated career as a major league player, general manager and announcer.

Spohn had a lifetime 13-21 record in 59 games, 27 of them starts. His best mark came with Grand Island where he was 7-5. One of his brothers, Averill Spohn, also a right-handed pitcher, spent two years (1940-1941) in the St. Louis Cardinals farm system.
