Don Jaber was the batboy for the Fond du Lac Panthers before joining the team as a pitcher (for $300 a month) after high school. He went 16-7 with a 3.94 ERA in 1953, tied for third in the Wisconsin State League in victories. In '54, Jaber went 10-4, 3.75 for the Quebec Braves. Moving up to the 1955 Eau Claire Braves, where he was 15-7 with a 4.02 ERA, sixth in the Northern League in wins. In '56, Jaber was with the Jacksonville Braves, posting a 8-5, 3.45 record. He concluded his career the next year with a 12-8, 2.83 campaign for Jacksonville, having never posted a losing record. He also hit .273/~.322/.400 in class A ball for the Jacksonville squad, even being used as a pinch-hitter. He was 10th in the South Atlantic League in ERA that year.

[edit] Personal Remembrance

Don Jaber was probably the best pitcher on the Fond du Lac Panthers (1953) Class D baseball team. He likely continued his baseball career after 1953. Can we find his career stats? I believe Don lives in retirement from baseball in his hometown of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and owns and operates an automobile business.- User:Pitcher53
