Infielder Dominic Ramos is the cousin of former pitcher Mario Ramos. He played from 2005 to 2006 in the Boston Red Sox system, and since then he's been in independent baseball.
While with Texas State University, Ramos hit .240 in 25 at-bats in 2002. He did not play in 2003, but in 2004 he hit .292 with seven home runs, 13 stolen bases and 27 RBI in 57 games. He also pitched in 18 games that year, going 2-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 18 relief appearances. In 2005, he hit .320 with two home runs, 33 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 58 games.
Ramos was drafted by the Red Sox in the 17th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He began his professional career with the Lowell Spinners, hitting .260/.329/.370 with five home runs, 29 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 65 games with them.
In 2006, he played for the Greenville Drive and Wilmington Blue Rocks, hitting a combined .211/.289/.282 with no home runs, 12 stolen bases and 33 RBI in 110 games.
He played for the Worcester Tornadoes in 2007, hitting .311/.386/.429 with five home runs, 21 stolen bases and 43 RBI in 92 games. In 2008, he played for the Brockton Rox, hitting .299 with two home runs, 20 stolen bases and 29 RBI in 94 games.
