Dieppe is located in northern France, on the Atlantic Ocean in Normandy. It is most famous for a battle fought on August 19, 1942, when allied troops - largely Canadians - staged an attempted landing that was quickly repulsed by German forces with massive casualties. Pierre Le Guillou and Giovanni Ouin were born here.
