Dick Thompson was a baseball researcher and author. a veteran of the Vietnam War, he worked as a registered nurse at the VA Medical Center in Brockton, MA for 32 years. He was the author of The Ferrell Brothers of Baseball and was a member of SABR. He won the Bob Davids Award, SABR's highest honor. Before dying unexpectedly in 2008, Thompson had been researching black baseball in New England.
