Dick Tettelbach, who played at Yale University with George H.W. Bush, was in the American League during 1955-57. He also had a six-year minor league career, hitting .302.
Tettelbach was at Yale from 1948-50. He was a star with Norfolk in 1952, a team which went 96-36; Tettelbach led the league with 30 stolen bases and hit .317, good for third in the Piedmont League. While in the minors in 1955 with Denver, he played with many future major leaguers, including Don Larsen, Marv Throneberry, Whitey Herzog, Ralph Houk, Tony Kubek and others.
Most of his major league at-bats came with the 1956 Senators. He played left field, a position where Roy Sievers was the regular from 1954-59 for the Senators. Whitey Herzog, Tettelbach's former teammate at Denver, played center field.
In 2006 he was inducted into the Connecticut Golf Hall of Fame. An article indicated that he had been active as a player for many years, winning titles, and also served for years as an officer of the Connecticut State Golf Association. The article mentioned that he worked for the Copeland Company in Cheshire.
