[edit] Biographical Information
Dick Lundy is considered one of the top Negro League shortstops, behind Pop Lloyd and Willie Wells and a better fielder than either. Lundy's best seasons came in the 1920s for the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants. His .349 batting average in 1928 was reported to be second behind Lloyd.
Lundy hit .306 lifetime with moderate power. The limited data available indicate that Lundy was not adept at drawing a walk. Otherwise he was a well-rounded talent with some power, good speed, the a talent for contact hitting and possessor of a great glove. He also was managed for a number of seasons in blackball.
