Shortstop Dick Jauron was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 25th round of the 1973 amateur draft. However, he elected to play pro football instead after being chosen by the Detroit Lions in the fourth round of the NFL draft. A defensive back, he played eight seasons in the NFL with the Lions and Cincinnati Bengals and made the Pro Bowl once. After his playing days, he went on to coach the Lions and the Chicago Bears, and he is currently coach of the Buffalo Bills.
