Dick "Shadow" Carroll went 26-9 for the Akron team in 1909 and then came up for two games with the 1909 New York Highlanders.
In the days of the Federal League he was business manager for the Buffalo Buffeds, and was once scheduled to pitch a game for Hal Chase's All-Stars after the regular season was over, but he was then never sent to the mound.
