[edit] Biographical Information

Pitcher Dewon Day was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 26th round of the 2002 amateur draft as a fifth year senior "draft-and-follow". He signed the following spring with scout Jaymie Bane and made his pro debut in 2003 with the Pulaski Blue Jays and led the Appalachian League with 12 saves before being promoted to the Auburn Doubledays late in the year. He returned to Auburn the next season and went 0-3 with a 1.50 ERA before being sidelined by Tommy John surgery. He returned in 2005 and split the season between the Doubledays and the Lansing Lugnuts.

After the 2005 season, Day was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the AA portion of the 2005 Rule V Draft. He played for the Winston-Salem Warthogs in 2006, posting a 1-4 record with a 3.40 ERA and 8 saves in 40 games before his season was cut short by back stiffness. He began the 2007 campaign with the AA Birmingham Barons, where he went 2-3 with a 3.60 ERA and 3 saves before being called up by the White Sox, with whom he made his big league debut on May 28th. He struggled with the Sox, however, posting an 11.25 ERA in 13 games. He returned to the minors with the Charlotte Knights in July and went 0-2 with a 6.28 ERA with them.
