[edit] Biographical Information

Dewey Metivier pitched for the Cleveland Indians in 1922-24 under manager Tris Speaker.

A pitcher, he hit only .140 in the majors but in the minors was typically over .200, with a high of .267 for Jersey City in 1921.

He had some good years in the minors as a pitcher. In 1922 with Jersey City he was 18-7. With Springfield in 1926 he was 13-9 and in part of a season with Nashua in 1927 he was 8-3.

He was the same age as Indians teammate Riggs Stephenson.

In The New Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract it is stated that Jim Hegan came to the Indians because Metivier was a neighbor of his and arranged a tryout.
