Dewey Adkins had a long minor league career and also came to the majors in 1942-43 and 1949. Most of his major league appearances were with the 1949 Cubs.
He was born in Norcatur, KS, in northern Kansas near the Nebraska border.
Adkins was with Atlanta in 1943 and 1946-47 and then with Los Angeles in 1948 and 1950-52.
Primarily wore number 17.
