Des Plaines (2000 population: 58,720) is a suburb of Chicago, IL, located to the northwest of the city near O'Hare Airport. All-Star outfielder Shawn Green was born here in 1972, and Jim Lindeman graduated from Maine West High School here in 1979. It is also the final resting place of Hall of Famer Gabby Hartnett and former player and manager Lew Fonseca, who are buried in All Saints Cemetery. Des Plaines is also the location of the world's first McDonald's restaurant, which was founded here in 1955 by eventual San Diego Padres owner Ray Kroc.
