 Biographical Information
Outfielder Derek Lee is not to be confused with All-Star first baseman Derrek Lee, who reached the majors a few years after Derek Lee's only taste of the major leagues, with the Minnesota Twins in 1993.
Lee played in the minors beginning in 1988 and finishing in 2000. He hit over .300 several times, including .341 with Utica in 1988, .325 in 45 games with Birmingham in 1991, .315 with Portland in 1993, .300 with Ottawa in 1994, and .301 with Oklahoma City in 1996.
