The Denver Mountain Lions were members of the Western League when it was restarted in 1886. The Mountain Lions won the pennant in the six-team league with a 54-26 record, 4 games better than the St. Joseph Reds. Darby O'Brien (o'brida01) led the league with a .348 average while George Tebeau was fourth at .317. The next season the team became the Denver Mountaineers.
