Dennys Reyes allowed 7 runs in 1 2/3 IP for Mexico in the 2009 World Baseball Classic but avoided the team's worst ERA as David Cortes and Ricardo Rincon were both worse. Reyes threw 3 wild pitches in his short time on the hill during the Classic.

The Los Angeles Dodgers set a record (still current through 2009) between 1992 and 1997, when they played 722 consecutive games without a win by a left-handed starting pitcher. That streak ended when Reyes won his major-league debut.
