[edit] Biographical Information

Texas native Dee Moore spent twenty-three seasons in professional baseball from 1933 to 1955. During his much-traveled career in the major leagues, he spent time with the Cincinnati Reds in 1936 and 1937. He was taken by the Brooklyn Dodgers in the Rule V Draft from the St. Louis Cardinals and spent time with the Dodgers in 1943 and also was in the majors with the 1946 Philadelphia Phillies. Moore was used primarily as a catcher during this run and hit .232 in 98 games.

Moore also spent a much-traveled minor league career; he was active in seventeen seasons from 1933 to 1955 with eighteen teams in ten different leagues. He was again primarily used as a catcher but filled in wherever needed. During this period he had 1,690 at-bats and hit for a .323 average with 116 home runs. Also in this time span, he pitched in eight different seasons and put together a 27-14 record in 88 appearances.

Moore also managed for five seasons. He ran the show in 1941 and 1942 as well as 1951 and 1952 and gave his last orders in 1955.

The long-time minor league player and manager served on Guam with the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

After baseball, Moore became the assistant manager for the El Rancho Motel in Williston, ND, retiring in 1981. Moore died on July 2, 1997. He was 83 years of age.
