David Hulse played five years in the major leagues, hitting .290 in 1993.

Hulse, the only major league player to come out of Schreiner University, was drafted in the 13th round in 1990. That summer, he played in the rookie league in Butte, hitting .358 and stealing 24 bases in 64 games. (He never showed much power in the minors or in the majors, other than often getting triples.) The next year, he was in Charlotte in Single A ball, hitting .277 and stealing 44 bases. Moved up to Double A in Tulsa in 1992, he hit .285 and came up to Triple A the same year, in Oklahoma City for 8 games, and was in the majors for 32 games.

He made his major league debut with the Texas Rangers on August 11, 1992, and played 32 games during the rest of that season, hitting .304. The next year, he appeared in 114 games, hitting .290, stealing 29 bases in 38 attempts. He also had 10 triples, which placed him 3rd in the league in that category.

In 1994, he hit .254 with 18 steals in 20 attempts. He also spent 25 games in the minors, hitting .283 at Oklahoma City.

Early in 1995, he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, where he spent the 1995 season, hitting .251 with 15 steals in 18 attempts, and getting 4 triples in 339 at-bats.

In 1996, he hit .222 in 81 games as a backup with the Brewers. He was also in New Orleans for 8 games.

He was not in professional baseball in the USA in 1997, but in 1998 he hit .329 in 21 games at the Boston Red Sox Triple A club at Pawtucket. He also played for Nashua in an independent league in 1998. In 1999, he hit .335 in 74 games for the St. Louis Cardinals Triple A club at Memphis.
