Dave Schmidt pitched a two-hitter on July 12, 1987 as a member of the Baltimore Orioles against the Minnesota Twins. He didn't walk anyone and struck out 7 in the game. The only hits were singles by Al Newman and Greg Gagne.

He was the only regular pitcher (Bob Milacki won 2 games in 3 starts without a loss) to have a winning record on the 1988 Baltimore Orioles team that lost 107 games. He was a respectable 8-5 with a 3.40 ERA.
