A Bay-Area-based sports writer and columnist who's been with the Oakland Tribune since 1964, Newhouse has also been a frequent contributor to Baseball Digest. As of 2007, though still with the Trib, Newhouse would, for the first time in his adult life, abandon the field of sports in favor of a general interest column, which he pens to this day.
