Darwin dela Calzada has pitched frequently for the Philippines national team. In the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, he pitched in five of his club's nine games, going 0-3 with a 9.15 ERA, allowing 32 runs (11 unearned) in 20 2/3 innings. He walked 23, gave up 21 hits and fanned 16. He tied Adiel Palma for second in the event in strikeouts, trailing Chien-Fu Yang. On the other hand, he led the Cup in walks, more than the entire Cuban, Dutch or Japanese staves.
Dela Calzada allowed one run in 2/3 inning against Japan in the 2007 Asian Championship and blanked Taiwan for 2/3 of an inning. Against South Korea, he gave up 5 runs on 4 hits in one inning after relieving Jon-Jon Robles. His 19.29 ERA for the tourney was second-worst on the Philippines; he was the only pitcher on any team to appear in each game in the final round.
Darwin was back with the Filipino club for the 2009 Asian Championship.
