Darryl Jones was given 18 games with the 1979 New York Yankees in June and and first part of July. He was mostly a DH, and was 28 at the time. The regular DH that year was Jim Spencer, having his best year by far with a .593 slugging percentage in 295 at-bats.

Jones had gotten attention hitting .330 for Syracuse in 1977 and .322 for Tacoma in 1978. He also spent three years with West Haven (1974-76).

Brother of Lynn Jones, who also made his major league debut in 1979.
