The son of big leaguer Paul Brown and nephew of Jackie Brown, pitcher Daren Brown was drafted in the 29th round of the 1989 amateur draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and pitched in their chain for four years. After a few years playing with the independent league Amarillo Dillas, he became a player/manager for the club in 1998. He was the Texas-Louisiana League Pitcher of the Year in 1995, 1997, and 1998, and made the league's all-star team from 1995 to 1998. He was the Manager of the Year in 1999.
Since 2001, Brown has managed in the Seattle Mariners farm system.
